Michael Richards (a.k.a. 'Kramer' from Seinfeld) Racist

LOS ANGELES - Michael Richards stunned a comedy club audience, shouting racial epithets at people who heckled him during a stand-up routine.

The 57-year-old actor-comedian, best known for playing Jerry Seinfeld's eccentric neighbor Kramer on the hit TV show "Seinfeld," was performing at the Laugh Factory in West Hollywood Friday night when he launched into the verbal rampage, according to video posted on TMZ.com.

The tirade apparently began after two black audience members started shouting at him that he wasn't funny.

If I am to believe what I've heard on television, the Michael Richards fiasco started with the "African Americans". Richards was baited--and he defended himself. It all reminds me of that old joke about the black customers in an appliance store complaining that all the washing machines were white. The sales rep was quick to point out to them that "the agitators were black."

Some things just won't ever REALLY change.

whether they were black or white he had no fuckin reason sayin wat he said...he was not baited if he wasnt being funny then he shudnt have attacked them because they paid there money for his wack ass show...he didnt defend himself he disgrace every black person in that show

I agree with you Brittany. He had no right saying that type of stuff. Yeah they commented on him not being funny, but that does not justify what he said or his reason for saying it. He could have joked about their mommas, and there would not have been a problem. But he took it too far. I believe that he is racist. He was just saying how he really felt about blacks, and I have heard his apologies, but I don't believe they are sincere.

He had no right dropping the N bomb, but I do think he was definetly instigated by the two audience members. They shouldnt have been as rowdy, you dont like a show, that doesnt mean that everyone else shares your opinion, so why ruin that for the other audience members? I think Kramer was trying to help defend himself as a comedian and to defend the audience because in reality, the two members were ruining the show for everyone else, but I do think he crossed the line. I do think the problem comes from the black community though, it either should be acceptable for all races to be able to use forms of the word, such as "nigga", if it does in fact have a positive meaning, because excluing races from it because of a past that we had nothign to do with only stirs the pot. I blame the audience for instigating the argument and I believed they absolutely deserved to be yelled at, but not the extent that they got. I blame Kramer for dropping the N Bomb even though I believe in a weird light he had his heart in the right place, he just used the wrong words, and I blame the media for making this worse then it was. If it were a black commedian there wouldve ben no problem, which makes no sense, because dropping "nigger" on neone is still a derrogatory statement, no matter who you call it to, just because of what it associates with. A black commedian couldve called white hecklers crackers up and down, and just because most white people arent as sensitive to it and dont get as emotional to it, you never wouldve heard about it. You cant get justification to blame him nor can you to justify him strictly because it comes from society as a whole, not Kramer, as to who it is to blame.

You know this one confuses me, it seems that the last few people to comment have a lower IQ then the average American. Yes, he used the word Nigger. However, it seems that just because he's white he can't say it. It seems these "black Americans" (I call them that because not all black people are from Africa.) are overusing these "oppression, and racism" words like everything wrong with the black community is the white mans fault. Why is it that black people can call whites, cracker? Just because 200 years ago whites enslaved black. Because they couldn't vote 50 to 60 years ago. Todays generation has no clue about what kind of pain was felt back then nor do they have the right to blame todays white generation for that pain caused by their forefathers. Its not their fuckin fault, they didn't do it.

I believe, him being a comedian, that he had every right saying what he said. You say just because he's white he can't say "Nigger" Thats another reason why theres racial tension. Once you let these small things go, its another step towards unification. I believe that even Dave Chapel should have no right saying that word.

You 3 are pathetic.....

while i do think kramer fucked up bigtime, im not sure it was because of pent up hatred towards a race. I think that he got so mad, that he decided the only way to justify it would be to make those 2 guys as mad, offended, and hurt as he felt he was. Racial tension is real high in this country, and i'm assuming he felt that the cheapest, low blow, easiest and sure way to piss those two dudes off was to act the way he did. He probably didn't realize he was going to offend and disgust every person who was in the audience and who has seen the clip. Thats the only thing he could have said to those guys that he knew would get to them, lets say they were some guys he knew and one of their moms had died he probably would have said some rude shit about their mom being dead or something i dunno. I'm not trying to defend kramer because if you fuck up you have to deal with it, and if your speaking publicly no matter what venue it may be in you can't just act fuckin disgusting, i'm just trying to understand it better. Also a few people on this discussion board have some funny ideas. It seems to be a common sentiment among many white people today that just because they themselves didn't own slaves that black people now have no right to feel angry and disenfranchised. Our country has definantly regressed as far as racial tolerance and understanding is concerned, and I think we need leadership to move forward in the right direction. This incident at the laugh factory is just a mirror of what is happening today everywhere. And that was from a guy who has seen it all and has met every type of person and who has spent most of his time in liberal, hip cities. Think about all them rednecks in the south and the middle states and shit? I don't know if there is ever gonna be real progress.

It's generally ok for blacks to call white people "crackers" because there's no real history associated with the term. The n-word is associated with death, degradation, and slavery. You might say "well rappers and some other black people say the n-word all the time." That is true, but how many times have you heard a black person use the n-word hatefully? Sometimes they do, but most of the time black people are not using the n-word hatefully toward each other. When a white person says the n-word how could they be using it for any other reason than hate?
